Bijou gives us classic gay porn stretching back to the 1970s, and at this site, simply called Bijou Gay Porn, we can find all kinds of classic scenes now made available in the digital age. It's going to be a case of celluloid to digital, with some of the movies being at their original quality, but the site gives us the best ride it can. It's not all hairy moustaches and bad music either, there are some true gems in this site where whole DVDs are presented for streaming or buying.
When you land on the members' home page you are shown whats new, which is pretty funny really as there is nothing new here. It's like going into an antique shop and saying, Hi, whats new? (An old gag.) The movies are all from the past which doesn't necessarily make them all Classics. Everything gets called a classic just because it's old but actually there needs to be more to a porn movie than age to make it one to remember. Well, Bijou Gay Movies have found some gems and some more standard movies to present to you and, getting back to the home page, you can easily see whats recently added. There is then a See More link to click and this took me to the full collection.
Here I found just under 300 full movies to watch. I shouldn't really call them DVDs as DVD was not around when these were made, but they are full length videos for sure. You put your pointer over a box shot and then a message slides up giving you a bit of detail and background; click that and you find the viewing page. Here there is more info and you are told the run time, 70 minutes or whatever it is for the full thing, and you are also told the studio. Some of the movies are Bijou Productions while others come from other studios.
There is then a button to press to watch the full movie and this brings up the streaming screen, which is pretty big. I found choices here for HD viewing which was, at times, down at 480 or 360; this isn't HD filming, it's a video copy presented at as high a resolution as possible without going over the top, so there were also sizes at 240 and 144p. This meat that streaming happened nice and quickly, though the quality is not always top of the rage of course.
The movies come with a trailer to check out and then links to screen caps and photos. Some of these images were at 1,024 in quality, though they didn't enlarge to huge sizes and there were not that many images per set. There are many more in the screen cap galleries and these are here to give you a guide, as well as to let you browse the full scene, in images, before you settle in to watch it. Quality was what youd expect from screen caps.
Up in your top menu there is a Category tab and this opens a large drop down where you can filter the content by Category, Star, Studio and director. You may recognise some of the names who have content here: All Parker, Jack Wrangler and Will Seagers among many others in the Stars area (and the model, names are linked on viewing pages so you can find your favourite guys in other movies). Magnum Griffin, Bijou and Marathon are among the studios and John Travis, Matt Sterling and David Babbitt are among the directors. Categories range from fetish to western and come from the 70s, 80s and 90s. You can also filter out the 8mm movies if you want to and when on content pages you can rearrange their order.
So, a goo stock of content that's easy to find and stream, and the only thing I thought was missing were dates: upload dates I mean. There was nothing, in the members' area, that I could find, to tell me when a new/old scene was going to be added.
The drop-down category, star, model and director list is a good way to find the kind of content that interests you and I found it worked really well. You can also select All Films from there and then arrange them by popularity or title. When on viewing pages you can suggest category key words and help browsing that way, and you can link over to models own pages where there are links to any further content. There are also spaces here for stats but now all models had write-ups or details.
As a member you can also rate each scene you see and add things to a favourites area. So, when you stumble upon an old favourite form your youth as I did with The Bigger The Better (the boy fucked in the gym scene was just perfect) then you can keep it and never lose it again. You are also able to comment on these pages and leave your mark that way.
You will see a link to Buy Scene on these viewing pages and that's to use if you want to own the scene, rather than stream it. I didn't find any downloads, but you can order the movie now on DVD if you want and in this case you are linked over to Bijou Video where prices were reasonable; around the $24.00 mark for a full DVD.
The final thing to note is the Bijou blog which you can link to. This may not always be about what movie they are uploading and whats new on the site, but it's fascinating to read back on, kept reasonably up to date and keeps you in touch with all that hot and erotic stuff from the past.
I love this site, Bijou Gay Porn is keeping a lot of historical gay hardcore for prosperity and letting its members have access to it really easily. It's as good a quality as can be expected, it has easy navigation and a neat design, there are handy links to buy the movies and read the blog and background news, and it all works smoothly and well.
