Legendary gentlemen's magazine, Playboy has developed over the years from the magazine of the 1950s, through a series of websites to one huge portal of softcore porn, Playboy Plus. Drawing together several other, smaller sites, what we have now is a vast collection of models, movies and galleries featuring the women who have made the Playboy brand a legend. Things have significantly changed over the years, movies are now 4K, but the style, glamour and beauty of the women remain perfect.
You have to wonder if, over 60 years ago, Hugh Heffner ever thought his magazine would become the world's leading publication for erotic, softcore entertainment. Probably, yes, but did he ever think it would end up as one of the world's most respected and classy-looking adult websites? That's what it is now. On previous visits to Playboy, we've found a series of smaller sites with their own niches, but now, it seems, they've all been drawn together into one glossy online publication, although there are still add-ons to Playboy Plus, and the membership itself doesn't give you absolutely everything.
This redesign and rebranding, almost, has resulted in a good looking, modern and well-designed site that screams 'top-class.' It looks good and it holds a wealth of content, over 15,000 videos, for a start. These are your classic Playboy movies, where top stars, gorgeous babes and slinky Milfs pose, strip and pout at the camera showing off their perfect bodies. The solo movies last for around five minutes each and give us streams and downloads of the highest quality.
We also have top models, with well-known and respected porn goddesses such as Jenna Foxx, Adriana Chechik, Heather Knox and Kim Kardashian in the extensive list of models. The models are shown with glamorous images and some stats, and a little writeup, so you learn something about them. You can also arrange them in various categories, including finding all the famous Playboy Playmates in one place and then clicking to their galleries and/or videos. It's a neat way to start browsing for content.
The 15,000 + movies are arranged in various ways to. You can search out the Playmates, Celebrities, Playboy Muses, Adult Stars and International movies from the category list or browse through what's been recently added. You'll see when the latest update was made as upload dates are posted, and each one is now shown with large sample shots and video details that, when clicked, lead to a simple viewing page with stream and download options. There's also a description on these pages, and that's another thing Playboy Plus does well; it gives you lots of information about your girls and movies.
You're going to find a large stream-screen, and when you click play, it goes full screen by default. Things look great, but you can always reduce the screen size and choose your preferred resolution. Movies are streamed up to 1080p HD and come with four download options as standard. (Some older ones may have fewer, some may have an additional 4K). Movies are at 1,920 x 1,080 HD, and come with 1,280 x 720 versions, plus a 480p and a 360p for mobiles. Download files are in Mp4 format. Among the 15,000 + movies there are now over 250 in 4K HD (3,840 x 2,160), and of course, the filming quality is great.
Known for its photography, Playboy Plus also gives you more than 20,300 image sets where pics are large and sharp, expertly taken and show off the glamour girls to full advantage. Images are at 1,920 x 1,280 or 1,024 x 680 px and can be saved one at a time, run in slideshows or downloaded in zip files.
There are a couple of other sections in your top menu, but there are pay-extra add-ons to your membership. Playboy TV and the Magazine Archives will cost you extra to access. At least, the archives were available for an annual extra, but the Playboy TV access was offered for free registration.
I clicked around inside this members' area for a while, not sure if I liked the new layout and design. I mean, I love the way it looks as it's so glamorous and high-quality, but I wasn't sure how to find the images separate from the videos (still not sure if I can) and was never quite sure if I saw all videos together or if I had to separate out each category, i.e. playmates, celebs, muses etc. in the category list. It didn't take long to get to grips with things though, and you can add content to a favourites area, so you can always store as you browse, and return later to see what you've chosen to view. It's easy to get back to the home page where you can see what's new and what's next, and there's another menu on your right, shown as an icon, which opens a page of navigational links.
Members have some interactive options with rates and likes, and there's an obvious link to your account area to check up on your membership. You can also comment as well, and that means you've got almost direct access to the models and can let them know what you think of them. I'd have liked a more detailed search function other than just a simple keyword search, but overall, I had no trouble with the members' area, and there were certainly no technical issues.
You can sign up to Playboy Plus as a 2-day trial for $1.00, though I am not sure how limited that access will be. Currently, memberships stand at $14.95 per month or $59.95 for three months, and they both appear to be unlimited access, with downloads and streams. I was able to access the VIP content with my membership, but not the magazine archives which were on sale for $8.00 per month extra (with a two-year option for $100.00 which works out at only $4.17 per month). It's all very clearly laid out, and nowhere did I find any hidden charges or cross-sales.
Playboy has grown from a top-shelf magazine to one of the most glamorous members' areas of any adult site, and it's now all gathered together in one place, Playboy Plus. There are still some add-on extras you might want to pay a little extra for, but you've got plenty of glam girls, softcore, erotica, and girls-together high-class content that Playboy is famous for. You've also got it for a low membership fee, and you get plenty of high-class value in return.
