Dorm Boy Secrets is a bit of an odd beast. It is a site that offers many hot things but delivers things which are not advertised. There are several sites open to you when you sign up and it is relatively easy to jump from one site to the next; the content is all amateur, self-shot or non-exclusive and it is not in any way only about college guys. Even within the college boy themed sites there are older men. There are streams only, only 50 photos but masses of general, amateur style videos.
When you log in you come to a home page for the network. This is the Gay Engage network and, as far as I can see, it is quite a new one; it is certainly new to me. The entire collection of videos is very impressive in terms of numbers with 2,451 clips when I called in and a further three per day promised. These were varied and came under 16 titles, so for all round general content you don't do so badly. What is more disappointing is the low number of clips in the Dorm Boy Secrets area. There were only 146 here and they were often very short.
And I have to say, I found little that was dorm room about them either. Click the title in the drop down list of sites at the top of the page and then re-click the movie tab in the menu. Doing his brought me a selection of twink, interracial, bear and older guys clips with no hint of anything being college or dorm related. A lot of these clips ran for only one and a half minutes, or two minutes, some were slightly longer. All had only one viewing option and that was a stream, in only one choice of resolution. And it is a stream you cant jump through, if you try you get thrown back to the start again.
The quality of clips was varied, but because of the lack of choice on the stream you are looking at mid-range quality at best; it has been chosen so that it will run on just about all connection speeds, which makes it middle of the road. You can try full screen viewing and sometimes it's fine but generally though it is best avoided.
Apart from the fact that the content was not what I was expecting, was not dorm room related (just because there are two twinks together doesn't mean were in a dorm room and these are college boys, it's a bit insulting actually), and the movies were in no way exclusive. In fact some even had other sites watermarks still on them, Thug Overload, AEBN, Raw Strokes and so on. All in all, though there is a huge stock of clips, I found the movie content disappointing.
And sadly I was not too impressed with the image content either. There are, as far as I can make out, only 50 images here and they are shared with all the sites, as indeed some of the clips may be. You can click to the Pictures area in the main menu (and the first time I did this I found myself out on the tour pages and had to log in again) and there you find one page of thumbnails. These lead to individual images, rather than galleries, and they are varied: a guy fisting himself, self-suck shots, twinks with big boners and so on. Again, all amateur, non-exclusive and mid-range quality.
You have some bonus content in the form of a plug in site that takes you to unlimited DVDs, a collection of 202 DVD titles from various studios. There are more in the straight area if you fancy that, and all the movies can be streamed as scenes. There are choices of quality and resolution as well as choices of genre. Its a decent bonus.
There were a couple of quirks in navigation at Dorm Boy Secrets. I was booted out by going into the pictures area and you have to know to click the drop-down list for your site and then click movies, and you need to keep an eye on what site you are in. But generally speaking it's easy enough to handle and you won't find yourself getting lost. Things open in the same window including the bonus DVD sites. The links off to live cams and dating sites open in new tabs, and are not included in your membership, and the Support area is also a third-party site.
There is no information and nothing interactive at this site, or any of the sites you access. Actually they are more like areas within the one site and as they all seem to rely on the same mix of content it's rather like one big site with no great focus, even when you are in a themed site; apart from perhaps the ethnic content, there's a lot of ebony here which works well. But the point is: you never know when things were updated, or where they came from (apart from the occasional watermark) and you have no way of saying what you think. To improve the site really should have: rates/votes for members to cast, comments boxes, a way that folk can access social networking buttons, details about the clips, more images, maybe a forum or even a blog, it should try and keep the content focused and have, say, one or two really good and themed sites rather than a lot of site titles (to encourage sign ups) that each carry mixed and off-target content.
The really good thing about it though is that there are three updates a day. You can see whats coming soon if you can filter out all the adverts, and you do get a decent amount of DVDs in your bonus site.
Not for me I am afraid as the content is taken from all over the pace, it seems to have very little to do with Dorm Boys and the secret is that you get all kinds of other stuff and only one way in which to stream movies, no downloads, very few images and not very good quality clips. But, if you like all kinds of everything and want some of the nonexclusive DVD streams as well, then it's a good place to be a part of; you get lots of variety and lots of short clips.
