You need to be quick: Hot Doods is new and so has a good introductory price, and it looks like it's going to go a long way. It's all about young guys, but not your typical twinks or teens. These guys are kind of verging on the alternative side of amateur if you ask me. They appear, naturally, in solo shoots that you download and keep, and the site comes with trailers. It's really simple, there's a blog as an extra and it's now in its third month of operation.
I love it when I get to see a site for the first time, a new site that's starting out, looking good and promises to have a good and long career ahead of it. Hot Doods is such a site, though I would like to offer up some suggestions for improvements. But I will do that later, at the moment, as long as you're a minimalist, you're going to love the site.
Ok, so it is new and there are only ten or so scenes as I write (August 11) but new ones are being added every week. Come back and ask me in a year or two and the site will get a much higher rating as there will, hopefully, be more content. Whats here at the moment bodes well for the future though. They guys are natural and sexy, amateur looking in that they are not toned and tough porn stars, but nor are they squealing young twinks. They come across as just natural guys having a jerk-off, as that is what they do. At the moment the Doods are all appearing in solo shots, and these tend to be your standard lying on the bed ones. Nice cocks, hanging balls, full of boy-jizz as the end of each movie shows you, great faces and good looks. It's all here, all you could need for a good quality solo site.
And it's good a good choice for video watching, except that you have to download the files first. There are flash streams of short trailers so you know who and what you are getting before you embark on a download, and I put it like that as some files are over 1Gb is size, which is still pretty big for most of us. If you're on dial up you'll need to go and have dinner, or take a vacation while you wait, but a fast connection wont be an issue for the mid-range versions. I found top WMV versions at 1280 x 720, and lower versions at 720 x 405 with Quicktime options for the same, so Mac users are fine I guess. You have to download these in zip files and then unpack them before you can run them.
You are told some information about each movie; the models name, the movie length and the date it was uploaded. The runtimes are good here, between 20 and 30 minutes each.
And I've kind of run out of things to tell you, apart from the fact that the solos are fine, the quality is ok and the movies deliver on the tour promises. But here are no galleries, no extras (apart from a blog which opens in the same window and which is image heavy and so far has only one introductory post, remember the site is new), there are no extras and very little information. Adding in some things for members to get involved with, a forum perhaps, would help the site retain its membership, and would help fill out the pages, at least until the site has grown.
I mentioned minimalist earlier and that's how the site struck me. The black of the tour turns to white when you log in and suddenly there is very little to actually see. The menu is made up of a link to the home page, where there is a nice message, there is a link to the updates and then to help, support and the blog and even the legalities, which you don't very often see on a top menu.
The viewing pages for the movies are equally as sparse, with one page per month and four or five videos per page. There are the trailer boxes and then loads of technical information per movie: the files types and sizes and so on. It's good to have but it does rather make everything look rather clinical.
So, Id say, as I am trying to be helpful, that a look at the design, adding some interactive options like rates and comments, favourites and a forum or message board, would go a long way to making Hot Doods more attractive on the eye and to people who want to stay around. Give us a little more information about the boys, they're sexy but who are they and where are they from? Take out all the technical stuff and maybe put it in a drop-down so we have an option to see it or not, and spice up the pages with some more descriptions of the guys. Then we could really be rocking.
Although I have plenty of suggestions as to how I feel this site could be make more interactive and fun, it is presenting itself in a professional way and being very simple. You get straight to the action (after some potentially lengthy downloads) and you get whats promised. It doesn't mess around with adverts, false promises, extras or interactive options and it's up to you whether you like that or not. But it certainly gives us hot new guys to watch and Im hoping it does really well.
