What you are looking at here is a site from Gay Engage, a network that has 16 sites. Three of them have an ebony feel to them and Homos In The Hood is one of those black sites. There are hung ebony guys and Latinos, and white counterparts appearing in the videos here. The content is not exclusive, you only get one viewing choices, the site has a couple of technical issues, but you get a load of clips and pics for your money when you sign in. Its good for variety.
There were 80 movies in Homos In The Hood and I have no idea where they came from. As far as I know the content here is not exclusive. Its, I assume, hired in and bought under license and in some of the clips you can still see the watermark from the company who owns it or who made it.
You might have a bit of a hassle getting to the content. I started off at what looked like a general home page and then clicked to the site I wanted from a drop-down list and the page changed. I then clicked movies and got all kinds of white guys in hardcore sample pics that I didn't want. So I clicked the site name again, in the drop-down list, and the page changed once more. Eventually I found what I guessed was the content I'd come in here to check out.
Each clip is shown with a sampled pic on the index pages where you are also told the runtime and number of views. Judging by those numbers the site has not been around for very long and, as there were no upload dates, I cant say for how long. There is an upload schedule running across the top of your pages, beneath an advert for another network, and so you can see that there is at least the promise of three news clips per day to three different sites within your 16.
As for actual viewing pages, you click a sample pic to get to a clips view page and there you find an advert for a live cam site and your stream. You only get the one, it's mid to low in size and there are no other choices, and no downloads. So that was a bit disappointing. This is a site/network where you simply log in, view and log out, you don't get to learn anything about the clips or from where they came, or the guys and you can only watch your movies online.
And the quality can be very variable as well. There were some clips here that were very grainy and pixelated, and others that did better in quality terms, but these are not HD movies by any means. Similarly the photos are not huge but the content is all just about acceptable in quality terms.
Actually the photos were a bit of a mystery. I clicked to the Pictures tab on the menu and was booted out to the tour. I logged back in and tried again and his time there was no Homos In The Hood in the drop-down list of sites; it seems you don't have access to any images when in this site/area. But there are the other ebony and Latino sites to view and you can usually get 50 pics per sit if you click around for long enough.
And there is also an area for Unlimited DVDs in your menu; this is a feed site that plugs in and runs within your main pages and which holds around 200 titles, so it's not exactly unlimited, but you can stream them in various choices of quality, and there is a Black category with around 60 studio made movies to view.
You might have picked up on the fact that I wasn't very impressed with some of the technical things here: Being booted out when trying to find photos, not finding any photos for this site when others had galleries, finding lots of adverts for other sign ups when you've just forked out a payment to log in here, and so on. Also, there are no choices for viewing the videos, just the one is provided, and that smacks of laziness. OK so it is simple but there should be more choice. There are no interactive options either. There are five gold stars beneath every sample pic in the index pages, but you cant click them to award a vote, and there are no comments facilities either.
The menu stays static and you should always be able to get to the videos, and it is easy to change site, although the sites are more like areas as everything operates in the same frames and pages. There are links to live cams and dating sites, but these are the standard thing: you can do some free browsing but have to pay to access them in full. Similarly there is a link to a video on demand site where you pay to view more, but you do have the free feed for more content and that works really well.
I found the set-up, technically speaking, for this site was a bit basic and needed a bit of work doing to some of the navigation issues. If you have any trouble there is a link to a support area but I get the impression that's more to do with membership fees than technical issues. But stay with it, you get to stream a lot of general gay clips.
Under the main title the words read, 'Your ultimate and only one true gay source.' Yes, well, I'd not pay too much attention to that. Homos In The Hood has 80 non-exclusive and low quality clips on offer, I didn't find its photo content, it does let you in to 15 other sites which are actually just categories, and all the content works in the same way with very limited viewing options. Its fine for a lot of all kinds of stuff, but there are certainly bigger and better gay sources out there.
