Gay Solos is one of a new breed of sites that use High Definition (HD) filming techniques. More and more websites are going down this road and thats good news for those of us who like clear images and who have a good connection speed. Before long, so they say, dial up connections will be a thing of the past so hopefully we will all be on super fast connections and be able to easily view high quality movies such as the ones on Gay Solos.
When you join youll find a well stocked home page that brings you the latest update news, links to the various parts of the site and some other extras, adverts and bonus site access. Clicking over to the exclusive videos area you will find five pages of 12 movies, totalling 24 scenes - when I was there. Each of the guys who performs solo has his movie available in two sections, this makes the downloads easier and quicker. Some of the guys here can also be found on the partner site Gay Sex Resort where they team up with each other and other similarly amateur and sexy looking cuties. They put on good performances and, if youre into watching guys jerk off solo (and maybe joining in yourself at home?) then you will want to add this little bunch to your collection. Each guy starts with an interview with the film makers before getting his kit off and stroking, so you kind of get to know them all a little as well as get to watch them. (Actually, I started to wish the cameraman would shut up after a while, he did drone on a bit.)
Now for those technical details I mentioned. You have three viewing options: a High Definition version which streams in a screen that is 1280 x 720 running at 1.99Mbps. A Windows Media Player version that is 380 x 214 @ 491 kbps and a Quicktime one that plays in a similar sized player. These last two versions can be downloaded but I couldnt see a download link for the HD version; when the new window appears its there but once the screen had loaded it vanishes strange but true! File sizes are around the 50Mb mark so are quite manageable. Each movie comes with a set of images and these too are HD with sizes clicking up from 100 x 100 thumbnails to 415 x 620 sized images that then click further to 688 x 1029 if you wish. These are clear and sharp to the point of almost being too sharp and each one is downloadable. You can also catch the 12 photo sets via the Photo Gallery area.
As for the rest of your content, there is a page of Bonus Videos which is actually a collection of 20 good quality feed sites in various genres. Among these feeds you have the Elite series, each one of these feeds has 20 scenes to stream and they range in content from Bears to young guys. At the bottom of the page are links to other sites in the same network as gay Solos. You can click over to the Gay Sex Resort for more exclusive and HD videos, or to Gay Hitchhiker or Super Twink for some reality and totally non-reality sex sessions, or to the other four sites, Anal Pals, Boy for Boy, Gay Super Cocks and Giant Gay Cocks. Those bonus sites open in the same window but you can easily get back to Gay Solos as it is linked from each of the bonus sites. Actually the whole network is linked together so navigating the whole thing is no problem at all. Getting around inside Gay Solos is fine too as new galleries open in new windows, the pages are numbered and you only need to back button back from the full sized images to the thumbnail pages. The videos, too, open in new windows but dont leave a stream streaming while you go and look at something else or the connection will be lost. If you are on a slow connection and want to see the HD version you will have to wait for the whole thing to load first. When it does though youre in for a treat.
The site is nicely designed, the adverts for the third party personals area and the mobile porn are a bit distracting at first but you soon learn to block them out. There are a couple of notes on various pages: one that mentions turning off your firewall should you have trouble viewing the videos and another on the home page that says you get 100% free access to the bonus sites when you are a full member. This makes me wonder about the trial membership maybe you cant access the bonuses on the trial, only on the full membership package. Mind you, at only $29.99 its not a bad price and you do get to access eight sites and 20 feeds for your money.
The updates are a bit of a concern; they are promised as bi-weekly but the last Gay Solos update was made ten months before my visit which is not bi-weekly at all. Having said that, the updates page lists the latest content to be put on all the sites and over at the Gay Sex Resort there had been masses of new content added more recently three days before my visit in fact. If you have any questions about the updates, or anything on the site, youll find the customer support links are at the bottom of the main pages, so they are easy to find.
There are not many videos and galleries here, 12 full length episodes of 12 different guys jacking off is not what I call a well stocked site, but you can access the bonus sites once you are a full member. I applaud the use of High Definition filmmaking and the fact that the videos are also available in the more standard quality versions. The models are cute enough, with a straight and amateurish look but the quality of the movie making is professional. All things considered its good value.
