You've got two ordinary guys making their own exclusive porn flicks and then putting them on their own site along with pics of their holiday and news of what's going on in their lives. You will either love it or hate it. If you like professional porn stars then this ain't for you but if you like real guys having a go then it is. It's a strange but interesting mixture of porn and shopping and well you'll just have to make up your own mind, I've not seen anything like it before!
Pat and Sam is intriguing. I've never heard of this site and I've been doing this kind of work for a while now. And I've never seen a tour quite like it either. We're told that there are 150 exclusive guys, 200 original videos only found here, 300 photo galleries, original action - no scripts, plus some other things listed like Sam's log, Snickers and Food and Drink - I can't wait!
I just had a quick look around the site to familiarise myself with it and I'm still wondering where I am. It's fun and amateur looking, hot and yet odd at the same time. I can't quite put my finger on it so what I will do is this: I will start at the welcome page and wander through the content for you and maybe by the end we'll both understand exactly what Pat and Sam is all about.
First of all the site is arranged in frames with a permanent top one and the menu in a left one, this means that the centre of our screen is where the main content will appear. First on the list after the welcome is an advertisement for a new movie being sold on another site. O.k. Beneath this is a list of he recent updates and then we get to a link to the 2006 updates followed y a link to a pay per view theatre. (Methinks Pat and Sam mean to make money.) But enough of that I'm of ft the video and picture area.
These are arranged alphabetically starting with Adam and ending with Zane. Each model gets a little biography and you can read his stats, also at this point you can click to his content, to his movie appearances (which links to a DVD store) and you can make a comment. Well, you can't comment until you've seen something so I'm selecting Ethan at random to check out his content and see how you get to view the videos and galleries.
The videos are contained inside the galleries. What this means is that, in the new window that appears, you have the screenshots to one side - in one of those frames again - and the details of the scene in the main screen. I had two choices of speed here, DSL/cable and Dial up and I could stream or download the videos. The DSL version streamed in at 512 kbps in a 320 x 240 sized screen; I'm afraid the movie started and stopped a lot even though the buffering was well ahead of the streaming. I tried another guy in the dial up version, 320 x 240 @ 264 kbps, and got the same treatment so I tried a download. This ran without jerking so was much more enjoyable though somewhat dark.
The photos are in that left hand frame and these are all, as far as I could see, video captures, screenshots from the filming. The size was 40 x 534 and the quality on most was acceptable - but you can't beat decent digital or high resolution photos.
So, after struggling with the videos and glancing at the photos, I started to explore the other things on the link list. There was a link called Woodpile which took me to a page of thumbnails. The text is fairly jokey and chatty and goes along with the overall style of the site and on this page it lets us know that we have samples from the "opposition". What we have in fact are samples from other sites, so there are some more trailers and pics here from other gay hard-core sites that you may be interested to view and then join; thereby letting Pat and Sam have a cut of your sign up fee.
While we're looking at content I have to mention: Sam's Log, which is a blog that keeps you up to date with Sam's life and adventures, thoughts and activities. Snickers is something you don't see on many websites. It's a place where the guys put up some weird and wacky and occasionally horny things they've found on the web and then comment about them. Nice touch if you have that kind of sense of humour. And then there is Snapshots which contains photo albums that detail Pat and Sam's life and travel adventures. But as for who Pat and Sam actually are I'm still none the wiser.
There are a few things about this site which got on my nerves. The design has an amateur feel to it and comes across as something someone did at college in their IT lesson. The use of frames is a bit outdated and they are a pain for us surfers, I felt the design could have been improved here. On the other hand I like the free and easy style, the don't give a damn atmosphere of the site and I reckon that it will really appeal to guys who are younger, more hip than I am (certainly) and more laid back, streetwise or whatever the latest expression is. You get good features like the content and you get those strange extras too - the personal things that you don't expect to see on a website. This gives the whole thing an amateur (as opposed to big company) flavour which in turn makes the site personal and fun.
Many things open in new windows which can get a bit tedious after a while but again it makes navigation easier. There is lots of scrolling to be done and again this is a double edged sword as you don't have to jump from page to page but you do have to scroll down and down and up again.
So, apart from the content - the exclusive content I should add, and the personal diaries and photo galleries, there are also links over to pay per view theatres and adverts for pay sites - I guess this is how Pat and Sam make extra money. There is a contact link which opens a direct e-mail to the guys and there is a links page which brings you more suggested pay sites to view - and sign up to. Hey guys! We've already signed up for your site so stop trying to get us to sign up to someone else's. It's gong to be better than yours and we'll only cancel our membership with you!
You know I'm still not sure if I liked this site or not. On one hand it was very laid back, amateur and refreshing but on the other hand that was what annoyed me - it was too "dude, where's my car?" The quality of the exclusive content was a bit ropey and I didn't like the screenshot galleries but, on the other hand, the guys are doing something new and should be applauded for that. So, if you want to see some ordinary guys jacking off in home movies then you're in for a treat here. I think.
