Sorry, this might read a bit like a car crash. Do read on though as there is a lot going on at Ex Gay BFs that might interest you, but I am put off it right from the start because the tour and the members' area don't match up. You are promised, and I quote, You won't find any pornstar wannabes here! Only the world's hottest user-submitted boyfriend porn. And the first video I found was a studio produced scene with two paid actors. This is going to be an interesting investigation.
Having just been looking at a site called free gay porn access I would hazard a guess that Ex Gay BFs is more or less the same site. It certainly runs in the same way, with frequent updates, category lists, streams and downloads, and it has the same design. And it also has the same kind of content, and that is what really annoyed me. Take a look at the tour and you find clips and shots from what are clearly homemade porn shoots. You know: guys with mobile phones, men at home taking pics of their dicks, and that kind of thing. Not only that but the tour pages are filled with hacked from and then some of the top social networking and photo sharing sites around. But when you get inside you find studio made scenes like you find in any DVD site. You've even got a top model list and I thought these were not supposed to be porn stars?
So, that's kind of out of my system, what do you actually get? Well, you may find some user-submitted porn in here, I didn't feel inclined to go looking, having been lied to. But have a hunt around and see what you can find among the 84 scenes. I found scenes from released DVDs, such as Czech Inn and Boys Night Out with guys who I recognised from their work on other sites. And some who Id not seen in years, so some of this content is pretty old too.
You can view these scenes online, and there were three choices of streaming up to H264 Mp4. There were also four choices of download including an H264 and a mobile version. You can jump around through the streams if you want and you can also go full screen. The quality of what you see will depend on what resolution you have chosen, but being studio porn shoots the general quality of filmmaking was fine.
You will also find 202 galleries to browse through, again with some recognisable models. Some of these galleries have come from a site where they morph guys cock to make them look really, really big (and silly), there are many solo galleries, some action ones, teens, twinks, jocks, studs and amateur guys too. Galleries hold various amounts of images each, up to 400 in some cases, and sizes also varied but the quality tended to be good.
Updates happen every day at the moment with sometimes two or three new pieces of content being added. The earliest dated content was only a few months before my visit, so you can expect the site to grow in terms of content count, which is kind of good news.
But I still go back to my gripe that the kind of content advertised on the tour is not what you find once you are signed up and inside. This is more like a general DVD theatre, with varied and professionally made scenes, and not user submitted, Facebook-hacked content as promised.
But looking on the bright side The members' area does come with some fun and interesting features and functions, though a click here to submit your own videos is not one of them, not that I could see at least.
For a start, navigation is simple with a clear top menu and lots of category and other lists in the left side bar. You can order the content by date and various other ways to help you filter down to what you want to find, and you can even change the size of the sample pics on the index pages which make up the content lists. There are ways to see what is most viewed, highest rated, newest and oldest by videos, and for galleries too, and there is a category list with Amateur being at the top as having the most contributions (253). There is also a general search engine to use if you are looking for something specific by keyword.
Members can rate the content as you go through it and here is an add to favourites function as well, so you can get slightly involved and build up your own store of best bits. Leave comments if you want to and read what others have said.
When you are in the galleries you find that you can download whole sets as zip files, and also as PDF documents, which is pretty original; you can view thumbnails of lists per set, and navigation is by way of one pic at a time, with no slideshows.
You're also going to find links to Live Cams, which is an up-sell (pay more to sign up and use the site), and to a DVD Theatre. This is a feed from a large porn company offering you loads of released DVDs and their scenes to view; it's a neat bonus.
The members' area doesn't give you any problems in terms of technical issues, and it is easy enough to use. There are some adverts for other sites, but generally it is well designed and functional.
You will have guessed by now that this site is not what is advertised on the free pages. So proceed with caution and be warned. You do get the streaming and download options that are promised, and the site is, we are told, iPod and all that, compatible. It is easy and secure to sign up to and easy to use once you are inside. But don't expect to find self-submit porn or, come to that, many Ex Gay BFs (whatever they are).
